The latest article by Fox Sports baseball writer Ken Rosenthal is out and here is what he is talking about:
- The San Diego Padres might trade first baseman Adrian Gonzalez but need to receive major league players in return. Some people don't think the Red Sox can pull off a trade for Gonzalez because they gave up their most valuable pieces in the Victor Martinez trade a few months ago.
- Josh Beckett might bring up A.J. Burnett's contract with the New York Yankees when he discusses an extenion with the Boston Red Sox. He gave the Red Sox a discount in his last contract but might not be willing to do that again.
- The Colorado Rockies might entertain trading Jorge De La Rosa before he becomes a free agent after the 2010 season.
- Ken Griffery Jr. is going to talk with the Seattle Mariners early next week and is expected to make a decision about playing or retiring shortly after that.
- The Minnesota Twins are spending a little money this offseason, possibly attempting to show Joe Mauer they are interested in winning.
